Automatic alignment of esp. centreless plain grinding machine - carried out without absolute movement measuring system and reserve current supply and with proximity control by setting position regulated adjusting carriage
The reference point need not be moved, esp. after the restarting of the control after a voltage failure, during a movement of the feed carriage (3). The position of the feed carriage at the voltage failure is set as a zero point. A control (10) gives a backward travel command to a drive (7), which allows the carriage to travel back a constant distance. The control gives a command to the drive for the movement of the carriage for the mutual approach between the workpiece (6) and the grinding wheel (2). The contact between the wheel (2) and the workpiece (6) is identified with sensors (12) or by determining measurement variables. The position of the carriage (3) thereby reached is set at zero. A return distance from this position is moved as a fixed distance. The dia. of the workpiece is measured. The difference between the measured dia. and the dia. to be attained is transmitted to the control. The control computes the fixed distance from this difference amount. The carriage travels this new distance to the workpiece. At the end of the distance, the position of the carriage (3) is set at zero and the programme cycle is continued. ADVANTAGE - Feed carriage is automatically positioned to workpiece zero point following voltage restoration with preceding control voltage failure.
