The method involves modulating the composition or pressure of the gas (4) to be analysed and passing it along a molecular diffusion path (2) eg porous filter, polymer film capillary or aperture connected to a measurement chamber (1). Pressure fluctuations occur in the chamber as a result of the different diffusion times of different gas components. The pressure fluctuations are recorded by a pressure sensor (3). The modulation can be achieved by alternately feeding in a reference gas. USE/ADVANTAGE - For analysing gases and gaseous mixtures. Method enables quantitative and qualitative measurement of partial pressure with non-specific pressure sensors.
