The invention relates to a precursor powder of a superconductive oxide based on copper oxide, to a process for its manufacture and to its use for the preparation of a superconductive oxide. The precursor powder comprises: at least one copper compound chosen from among copper hydroxide, copper oxide and copper hydroxynitrates; at least one compound of yttrium and/or of one or more rare earth elements, chosen from among the nitrates, hydroxide and hydroxynitrates of yttrium and of rare earths; or a bismuth compound consisting of bismuth oxide; and at least one alkaline earth metal nitrate. It can be prepared by spray drying of a slurry containing a precipitate or coprecipitate of copper and, in solution, the other elements of the superconductive oxide. IMAGE
