The invention relates to a device for stopping and for extracting all the waste (chips, sawdust, dust) for a band saw. In order to obtain permanent bearing of the stop piece (9, 4) against the blade (3), this piece is provided with spring means (1) such as a permanent rest (2), the springs (1) of which point towards the blade (3), and the housing (7) is designed with the cover (2) in order to offer no slight or negligible resistance to the displacements of the stop piece (9, 4) perpendicular to the plane of the blade (3). The stop piece (9, 4) therefore always remains in contact with the blade despite its wear and despite the displacements of the blade, for example under the action of a stop.
