A single-piece wheel rim (J') having tapered seats (2') inclined at 15 DEG +/- 1 DEG with greatly reduced axial widths (P') relative to the axial widths (P) of known tapered seats (2), and having a reduced height (H') mounting well (3') leaving more room for the brake elements. A wheel rim (J') of this kind can be combined with a tyre (T) having beads with truncated toes to provide beads with greater fatigue strength while allowing easy mounting. The invention relates to tyres and wheel rims for heavy vehicles.
