The present invention relates to a device for the sealed coupling of two coaxial assemblies, as well as to the application of this device to the sealed coupling of a valve body and a sealing cup and to the sealed coupling of two pipes. In order to couple, in sealed fashion, a male assembly (3) and a female assembly (1, 22, 26) exhibiting annular shoulders (36, 33) placed face to face and which clamping means (40), acting on the two assemblies (3, 1, 22, 26) tend to bring together, means (frustoconical faces 32 and 37) are provided for clean mechanical abutment between the two assemblies (3, 1, 22, 26) for imposing upon the said mutual bringing-together a limit such that the shoulders (36, 33) apply, to an elastically compressible annular seal (44) interposed between them, a determined prestress applying them against sealing surfaces (37, 11) of the two assemblies (3, 1, 22, 26). The seal (44) thus plays no role in the mechanical coupling of the two assemblies (3, 1, 22, 26) and its prestress results solely from the search for sealing. IMAGE
