Describes a process for the isomerization of n - paraffins to c5 / c6 into isoparaffins which comprises: & br / - a deisopentanization stage (1) of a load composed of a light naphtha; & br / - a step (2) of isomerization of the residue deisopentanization; & br / - a step (3) of the adsorption is carried out by the passage of the isomerization effluent on an adsorbent retaining the n - paraffin; and & br / in alternation with the adsorption step (3), a step (4) of desorption carried out by lowering the pressure and a stripping by means of an isopentane-rich gas flow coming from the deisopentanization stage. & br / the isomerate from which the n - paraffins, in step (3) is a product with a high octane number.
