A device and procedure for the control of the irrigation of cultivated plants operates on the basis of measuring, in real time, the receptiveness to water of an area of the cultivation and the efficiency of the conversion of the solar rays. This is defined as the ratio of the incident energy to the energy not intercepted by the leaf cover of the area measured. The receptiveness to water at any instant is compared to an ideal value, determined as a function of the energy conversion ratio. When the actual value is less than the ideal value, the irrigation system is activated. USE/ADVANTAGE - An original and simple method to optimise the biological efficiency of cultivated plants.
