The subject of the present invention is a system for protecting wooded areas against fire. It consists of the combination of a line of columns (1) which are fixed and each topped by a head (2) for diffusing water and are arranged so as to create a screen of water, and of a pumping station (3) including several independent motor-driven-pump units and a water reserve (7), the whole assembly being controlled by a robot which may be remote-controlled (9). It is intended to stop, or at least slow down, the advance of a fire in order to ensure the evacuation of any people and to preserve the fauna, flora and property located on the site. IMAGE
