Method of coding a DNA sequence coding for an NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase of an organism, especially a plant. The process is characterized in that (1) a strain of yeast transformed with plasmids from a total cDNA bank of the organism, especially a plant, and having a deficiency phenotype of endogenous NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase activity, is subjected to treatment with a P450 cytochrome inhibitor at a dose which makes lethal the absence of endogenous NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase activity; (2) the surviving clones are collected and plasmids for the expression of an NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase activity corresponding to the NADPH-cytochrome P450 of said organism, especially of said plant, are extracted.
