The base plate is formed from basic units (40) which have a support part (41) for the plate (1) and support legs (43,44) located near two opposite ends of the support part (41). The units have an end support (42) for holding the plate (1) at a given distance from all surfaces in contact with the support. Several basic units (40,60,80) are connected by a rigid connector (35). The runner support (42) connected to a basic unit (40) disperses on the surface on which it rests all forces transmitted by the plate (1). The base plate has an opening (46) which allows passage of a fork lift truck prong. ADVANTAGE - By holding the palette above the all surfaces in contact with the support and providing openings for fork lift prongs diminishes possibility of damage to palette.
