The appts. includes a cylindrical enclosure (12 ) containing a sample holder (17) with means for weighing the sample and for supplying and measuring the flow of combustion gases. The enclosure forms a chimney above the sample allowing the products of combustion to be collected and analysed for CO and CO2 content. The enclosure forms an insulated tube (12,14,16) which can be removed when necessary, with a window (26) allowing the entry of radiant energy to ignite the sample. USE/ADVANTAGE - Calorimetry of combustible samples. Allows direct measurement of radiant energy emitted.
