A box for artists' materials comprises a base 1 including at least one compartment 12 for holding the materials, a lid 2 hingedly connected to the base 1, and a drawing board 4 which can be stored in the base 1. The board 4 may be removed and inserted into respective slots 5, 6 in the edges of the lid 2 and base 1 remote from the hinge 16 so as to prop open the lid and support the board 4 at a convenient angle for working. The lid 2 comprises a glazed frame through which artwork on the board 4 may be viewed when the lid is closed with the board inside the box, and means are provided for hanging the box on a vertical wall to display the artwork.
