A police baton with a guard (20) having the a guard near the base end of a gripping portion of a baton main body (1), wherein the guard of a certain length is attached by way of a hinge mechanism to the baton main body (1) such that the guard (20) can rotate around the central axis (21) of the hinge mechanism and adapted such that it can project sideways from the baton main body or can be folded toward the baton main body at the other end thereof, and the guard has a holding mechanism for holding the guard in a state projected from the baton main body.
