Transmission and balancing mechanism for the workpiece supporting arm of a stitching machine

A stitching machine, e.g. for shoes, has an arm assembly (10, 11) which supports the rotary shuttle (27) and feed plate (135) and which is pivotally mounted to the body of the machine about the axis of drive shaft (21). A first transmission (22, 23, 24, 25, 251, 26) in the arm assembly drives the shuttle and a second transmission (3, 35, 36, 37, 381) maintains the feed plate (135) in line with the needle bar (52) which the arm pivots.
