Melt blended filled thermoplastic resin compositions include a thermoplastic matrix resin, a filler material and a thermoplastic additive resin. The compositions of the invention include discreet continuous phases of matrix resin and additive resin, with the filler material being present essentially entirely within the additive resin phase (i.e., essentially absent from the matrix resin phase). More specifically, the components are selected so that their respective surface tensions allow the additive resin to form a complex three- dimensional interpenetrating network structure within the matrix resin when melt-blended, and such that essentially all of the filler material is homogeneously dispersed throughout the formed three-dimensional network structure.
