Date Oct. 15, 1990The invention provides a method for infecting a root of a plant of the genus Arabidopsis with a plant parasitic nematode under monoxenic conditions, comprising the steps of: (a) contacting the root with a plant parasitic nematode in the presence of a gelling matrix dissolved in a nutrient medium that is substantially free of nematode inhibiting substances, and (b) allowing the nematode to infect the root by forming a feeding structure.
