NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [M is H or alkali metal; D is disazo component residue of benzene or naphthalene base; R1 is H or lower alkyl; Z is halogen or of formula II (A is -COOM, -CONH2 or 1-4C alkyl; n is 0 or 1); m is 0 or 1]. EXAMPLE:A compound of formula III. USE:For dyes capable of dyeing cellulose fibers, nitrogen-contg. fibers, etc. orange - scarlet; capable of dyeing cellulose fibers under dyeing conditions for polyester fibers. PREPARATION:For example, a compound of formula IV and a second compound of formula V (Z1 is halogen) are condensed in an aqueous medium at 0-5 deg.C. The resulting compound and the compound of the formula IV are condensed in an aqueous medium at 20-30 deg.C to form a third compound of formula VI. Next, an amine of formula D-NH2 is diazotized followed by coupling to said compound of the formula VI in an aqueous medium at 0-5 deg.C and a pH 6-7.5 to form a disazo compound of formula VII; with which 1mol based on this compound, of a fourth compound of formula VIII is condensed at 90 deg.C.
