PURPOSE: To make it assured that the radiation source connected to a driving device is truly the one actually intended. ;CONSTITUTION: In the method and device to connect a first end 30 of a cable 11 with a driving method, the cable 11 supports an element such as a radiation source with its second end movable forward and rearward through a guide tube. The device is equipped with at least two first ends having a mechanical distinction such as a hollow 30a, a thick part, a projection and the like, and further processed with various connectors corresponding to various ends, in which respective connector has a lock means 21 to interact only with respective end having the mechanical distinction. While, the cable 11 having first ends 30 equipped with the mechanical distinction associated with desired element to be displaced is selected, put into a matching connector means, then such a first end 30 is locked with the associated connector means by the lock means 21.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
