AGENT FOR PREVENTING ASCITES OF BROILER AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING ASCITES

PURPOSE:To obtain an agent capable of preventing ascites of broiler and improving the rearing rate by using a specific quinone compound as an active component. CONSTITUTION:A quinone compound of formula (Y and Z are H, CH3 or together form one covalent bond of the double bond between C and C2; n is 1-11) is used as an active component of an agent for preventing ascites of broiler and an agent for improving the rearing rate of broiler. A feed for broiler is produced by compounding one or more kinds of the compound of formula I. The ascites of broiler is prevented and the rearing rate is improved by feeding a broiler of =4 weeks old with one or more kinds of agents selected from the agent for preventing ascites of broiler, an agent for improving the rearing rate of broiler and the feed for broiler. When the agent is administered to a broiler having especially high oxygen demand, the energy requirement of the heart of the broiler is satisfied, the ascites is prevented and, as a result, the rearing rate is improved. The quinoline compound is preferably administered to a broiler at a rate of 0.05-50mg/kg body weight per day.
