PURPOSE:To effectively use wallastonite ores as raw material for ceramic products by heating wallastonite ores as raw material at a temp. in a specific range and then cracking the above ores. CONSTITUTION:Naturally produced fibrous or acicular wallastonite ores as raw material are crushed to = about 200mm size. Subsequently, the crushed ores are heated up to 900-1300 deg.C and calcined, by which the greater part of calcium carbonate in the raw-material ores is converted in a first step to calcium oxide, followed by cracking so as to be formed into fibrous or acicular wallastonite as raw material. By the above cracking, calcium oxide is converted to calcium hydroxide by contact with moisture in air, which is powdered, at this time, owing to cubical expansion. By blending this raw material, superior ceramic products are produced.
