PURPOSE:To automatically keep the pressure and purity of the hydrogen in a specified device constant by allowing a storage vessel having a heat-exchange function and packed with a material capable of reversibly absorbing and desorbing hydrogen to communicate with the specified device by a pipeline and transferring hydrogen between the vessel and the device. CONSTITUTION:At least two series of the storage vessels having a heat-exchange function and packed with the material capable of reversibly absorbing and desorbing hydrogen are prepared. Hydrogen is charged in at least one series of storage vessels and hydrogen is not charged in the other at least one series of storage vessels. The respective storage vessels are connected with the specified device wherein the pressure and purity of hydrogen must be kept constant through a pipeline and a valve. The pressure and purity of hydrogen in the specified vessel are detected, (1) the pressure of hydrogen is kept constant by regulating the temp. in the hydrogen-charged storage vessel when the pressure of hydrogen fluctuates, and (2) low-purity hydrogen is introduced into the storage vessel which is not charged with hydrogen when the hydrogen purity is lowered. The hydrogen is supplied into the specified vessel whose pressure is consequently reduced in the same way as before from the hydrogen-charged storage vessel.
