PURPOSE:To stave off a danger due to a generated gas as well as to prevent explosion when a casting is dried by heating, by adding an org. blowing agent generating a noncombustible gas by decomposition. CONSTITUTION:This refractory for casting is obtd. by adding a proper amt. of an org. blowing agent generating a harmless, odorless and inert gas, that is, a nonpolluting gas by decomposition to a refractory for casting consisting of a refractory material and a binder such as alumina cement. Since the org. blowing agent for the generated gas forming degassing holes at the time of drying by heating must be poisonless, odorless and noncombustible, that is, nonpolluting, one or more kinds of compds. such as 4,4'-oxybisbenzenesulfonyl hydrazide, p-toluenesulfonyl semicarbazide and isopropyl hydrazylcarboxylate are effectively used as the org. blowing agent.
