摘要

PURPOSE:To make it possible to shut off the unnecessary light of regions exclusive of picture element electrodes of a liquid crystal panel, to suppress the light leak current of TFTs and to suppress the reflection of the light of black matrix parts by providing a black matrix having a specific value or below of the total reflectivity of seeing through from a glass surface and a specific value or above of optical density. CONSTITUTION:The glass substrate for liquid crystals is constituted by hydrolyzing the simple substance of the org. metal compd. expressed by formula M(OR1)m(OR2)nXpYq or a mixture composed thereof to a sol form, applying this sol on a transparent substrate, and drying and baking the coating, thereby obtaining the porous transparent active film. This film is internally provided with the black matrix having =6% total reflectivity of seeing through from the glass surface formed by the oxidation reduction reaction of metal and having =3.5 optical density. In the formula, M denotes elements, such as magnesium and calcium; R1, R2 denote a hydrogen atom, acyl group, etc.; X, Y denote a hydrogen atom, chlorine atom, etc.; m, n, p, q denote an integer from 0 to 8; m+n+p+q is equal to the valence of M.
