PURPOSE:To prevent a stepped section from appearing at a boundary between an abraded zone and non-abraded zone by controlling a zone changing means in accordance with the shape of an adjusting zone, regarding a device for abrading the surface of a cornea to perform correction or the like of the curvature thereof. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam emitted from a laser beam source 10 is polarized via plane mirrors 11 and 12 and, then, projected to an ocular cornea 16 via an aperture 13 variable in opening diameter and working for limiting an abrasion zone, a projection lens 14 and a plane mirror 15. In this case, the plane mirror 12 is caused to reciprocate in a Z-axis direction synchronously with laser pulses, thereby causing the parallel displacement of the laser beam in the direction of Gaussian distribution and obtaining abrasions of equal depth. A control device 19 determines the shape of an adjusting zone for smoothly connecting an optical zone to a non-abraded zone on the basis of data from an input device 20, and controls the opening diameter of the aperture 13 on the basis of the adjusting zone.
