PURPOSE: To provide a method for executing a binary output arithmetic operation in parallel to a composite operand including plural multibit element data items. ;CONSTITUTION: A binary output arithmetic operation is executed to a composite operand including plural multibit element data items. In the binary output arithmetic operation, a flag bit changing according to the numeric values of the elements is obtained for each element. The binary output arithmetic operation can be executed by executing an arithmetic operation in parallel to the composite operand whose each element has more than one bit. When the values are added in the arithmetic operation, and a value obtained by adding the elements to the added value is beyond the maximum possible value, a carry signal is generated. At the time of subtracting a value equal to the elements in the arithmetic operation, a result data item includes only '0', and a single flag bit which can be turned to '0' only when the result data item includes only '0' is obtained in the parallel arithmetic operation. In the binary output arithmetic operation, each element is compared with a value, or whether or not each element is within a range is decided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
