PURPOSE:To enable accurate operation to ensure a desired conversion characteristic by applying a saw tooth wave to a pattern area ratio-ink key opening conversion function circuit to take out an output so that a function characteristic may be displayed visually with the output as axis-of-coordinate input and the saw tooth wave as axis-of-abscissa input. CONSTITUTION:When a display switch 62 is ON as no converter operates, a prohibition gate 60 produces an output to turn switches SW1 and SW2 to the position A. By doing so, a saw tooth wave (a) as output of a saw tooth generator 64 is applied to a function circuit 44 through the switch SW1 and a waveform (b) from the waveform conversion of the saw tooth wave (a) with the function circuit 44 is applied to the axis-of-coordinate input of a CRT68 through the switch SW2 and a selection switch 66. The saw tooth wave (a) from the saw tooth wave generator 64 is applied to the axis-of-abscissa input of the CRT68. In addition, a beam generation electrode of the CRT68 is fed with a square wave (c) which rises or falls while synchronizing with the rising of falling of the saw tooth wave (a). Thus, only the function characteristic curve of the function circuit 44 is displayed on the screen of the CRT68.
