PURPOSE:To easily obtain the ceramic by dipping a honeycomb formed body consisting of an inorg. heat-resistant material of rehydrating alumina, etc., and a gelling binder, etc., in hot water to soften the body and then calcining the body using a heat-resistant jig. CONSTITUTION:An inorg. heat-resistant material consisting of rehydrating alumina, fused silica and potassium titanate is prepared. A honeycomb consisting of the material, a binder gelling above a certain temp. and a plasticizer is formed. The formed body is then dipped in hot water to gel the binder, and the honeycomb formed body is softened. The formed body is then placed on a curved heat-resistant jig or clamped by the jigs, and calcined at 1050-1150 deg.C. The calcined body is transferred on a jig having a smaller radius of curvature than the former jig and further sintered at 1200-1300 deg.C while applying load.
