MAGNETIC FLUID UTILIZING SHAFT SEAL SEALING DEVICE FOR VERTICAL SHAFT WATER TURBINE GENERATOR

PURPOSE:To perform sealing of a shaft sealing part by holding magnetic fluid in the gap of the shaft sealing part of a thrust bearing even when the rotary shaft of a vertical shaft water turbine generator is brought into an eccentric state. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic fluid utilizing shaft seal sealing device for a vertical shaft water turbine generator comprises a lower annular magnetic pole 12 fixed to the upper part of an oil tank for a thrust bearing; an upper annular magnetic pole 11a on the inside diameter side positioned facing the upper part of the lower annular magnetic pole 12 and attached on a rotary shaft 4; permanent magnets 6 arranged on the outside diameter side of the upper annular magnetic pole 11a at equal intervals in a peripheral direction and having a magnetic pole pointed in the radial direction; and an upper annular magnetic pole 11b attached concentrically to the upper annular magnetic pole 11a on the inside diameter side with the magnetic pole of the permanent magnet 6 therebetween. Magnetic fluid 5 is held in a gap 7b between the upper annular magnetic pole 11b on the outer diameter side and lower annular magnetic pole 11a. Since the size of the gap 7b is decreased during rotation and the magnetic fluid 5 is held against a centrifugal force, sealing is practicable.
