PURPOSE: To provide a recorder, which can achieve one-dot multiple values, can readily provide multiple heads at the same time and can prevent the evaporation of ink when the printing is not performed. ;CONSTITUTION: In the recording method of a recorder having an ink chamber 13 and an ink jetting orifice 11 formed in the ink chamber, a high dielectric- constant elastic body 5 and a signal electrode 3 and a conductive elastic body electrode 6, which hold the elastic body in the sandwich shape, are provided on the side of the ink chamber 13 of the orifice 11. A voltage is applied across both electrodes. The high dielectric-constant elastic body 5 is made to shrink by the electrostatic attracting force generated by the voltage application. Thus, an ink flow-out path 12 having the width corresponding to the applied voltage is formed, and the ink is discharged.
