PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency and the reliability of electrophoresis separation and analysis by adjusting the high voltages at the input end and the output end of a separating capillary, and controlling the flow of electroosmosis. ;CONSTITUTION: An input end 14 of a capillary tube 12 is inserted into a sample vial 22. A buffer storing vial 24 at the opposite side of a detector 18 is connected to an output end 16 of the capillary tube 12. A first high-voltage power supply 30 is connected to the vial 22 through a line 32. A second power supply 34 is connected to the vial 24 through a line 36. The outputs of the power supplies 30 and 34 are set by voltage regulating dials 42 and 44. Thus, the voltage offset for grounding is provided in this way. This voltage is used for controlling the electroosmosis current generated in the capillary tube 12. That is to say, the power supplies 30 and 34 are regulated, and the speed of the electroosmosis current toward the output end 16 is increased or decreased.
