PURPOSE:To enable clear printing to be maintained even when printing is performed with a neutral paper by applying a wetting liquid in a reservoir tray to a flat plate while circulating the wetting liquid between the wetting liquid reservoir tray and a reservoir tank. CONSTITUTION:A reservoir tray 42 is of a shallow plate form with the upper opening and a weir 44 provided near the end of a longitudinal direction separating a reservoir section 45 and a discharge section 46. This weir 44 keeps a stored wetting liquid at a constant level and drains an overflowing wetting liquid to the discharge section 46. Since the wetting liquid 56 in a reservoir tank 54 is circulated to and from a reservoir tray 42 through an outgoing tube 50 and an incoming tube 52, a substantial amount of wetting liquid stored in the reservoir tray 42 is large. Thus a sudden variation in the pH value of wetting liquid is eliminated. As a result, it is possible to maintain a satisfactory printing condition even when plural sheets are printed.
