PURPOSE: To apply heat treatment to a near-β type titanium alloy so that a higher fracture toughness value can be provided while maintaining superior strength characteristics and minimizing anisotropy. ;CONSTITUTION: A near-β type titanium alloy, free from Mo or having ≤6% Mo content, is first subjected to first-stage solution heat treatment at a temp. not lower than the β transformation point and then subjected to second-stage solution heat treatment again at a temp. in the α plus β region between (β transformation point -150°C) and the β transformation point. Subsequently, aging treatment is applied in the α plus β region between (β transformation point -340°C) and (β transformation point -220°C).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
