PURPOSE:To upgrade the sander characteristics of a woody plate surface by applying an expandable coating material contg. aq. latex, etc., of =5 deg.C lowest film forming temp. over the entire surface of the woody plate under pressurization in compliance with the coated surface. CONSTITUTION:The expandable coating material consisting of the aq. latex of =5 deg.C lowest film forming temp., formaldehyde resin, expanding agent, filler, and the hardener to be exclusively used is applied over the entire surface of the woody plate, such as timber or plywood, under pressurization in compliance with the coated surface. Recessed parts, such as conduits, cracks, grooves, worm-eaten holes, and press marks, of the plate surface are packed with the coating material, by which the repaired and sealed woody plate having the good sander characteristics is obtd. The more specific examples of the aq. latex having =5 deg.C lowest film forming temp. include an ethylene vinyl acetate resin, acrylic resin, etc., and the more specific examples of the formaldehyde resin include an urea resin, melamine resin, phenolic resin, etc.
