METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREPARING STRUCTURALLY REINFORCED PREFORM CONTAINING ENERGY BURSTING OF REINFORCING MATERIAL WEB AND ENERGY STITCHING OF REINFORCING MEMBER

PURPOSE: To provide improved method and apparatus for preparing rigid three- dimensional preform. ;CONSTITUTION: A rigid three-dimensional preform is prepd. by moving a plurality of fibrous reinforcing material webs laminated and arranged on the same plane as that for a cutter and the webs are coated with an electromagnetic energy-curable binder (2) and are pressed (3). Before a blank developed two- dimensionally of the three-dimensional preform is cut from the web, by applying locally an appropriate electromagnetic radiation so as to move the webs as a one body to the cutter, the binder in local regions at intervals is locally cured to bind the webs in these regions (4). After the blank is cut (5), the blank is placed in a mold to copy the three-dimensional shape of the preform (7) and the remaining binder is cured in the mold by applying an appropriate electromagnetic radiation (9).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
