PURPOSE: To provide the dense ceramic-base composite material which can be formed into a complicated shape and which is improved greatly in fracture toughness and strength and to provide its production method. ;CONSTITUTION: In the ceramic-base composite material, the ceramic sintered body which is dispersedly reinforced with short fibers 9 or particles is packed in the inside space of the three dimentional fabric 5 formed by weaving continuous fibers three- dimentionally and the three-dimentional fabric 5 and the ceramic sintered compact are integrated, and the three dimentional fabric 5 is formed by weaving the continuous fibers three-dimentionally in a prescribed shape, and on the other hand, 10-30wt.% short fibers 9 or particles based on the ceramic powder, the additive such as an auxiliary for sintering and a binder and a dispersing medium are mixed to prepare a starting material mixture slurry 7 or a kneaded material, and the molding having a prescribed shape is formed by packing the starting material mixture slurry 7 or a kneaded material in the inside space of the three-dimentional fabric 5 using a casting molding or an injection molding, and obtained molding is degreased and sintered by an atmospheric sintering process, an atmospheric press sintering process, a hot press process or a reactive sintering process.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
