PURPOSE: To obtain a composite material suitable for a coating material of cutting tool, etc., which is excellent in toughness more than sintered hard alloy and improves its hardness to equal to or above sintered hard alloy. ;CONSTITUTION: The hard super fine particles of TiN, TiC, etc., are dispersed in a metal such as Ni, Co, Fe, etc., in a volume ratio of the fine particle of 40-60%. Also, the size of most of the fine particles is regulated to a range of 0.005-0.1μm and the particles have B1 type crystal structure, and further have ≥2.1 of the half value width of X ray diffraction from (200) face.
