SELECTION OF VIRUS FREE VEGETABLE WHICH BELONGS TO GENUS ALLIUM

PURPOSE: To determine whether there is an infection or not for Carlavirus and Potyvirus by amplifying their coat protein genes by RT-PCR method with specific oligonucleotide primers. ;CONSTITUTION: Coat protein genes of Carlavirus are amplified by RT-PCR method by using an oligonucleotide of formula I, etc., and an oligonucleotide of formula II, etc., as primers. Coat protein genes of Potyvirus are amplified by RT-PCR method by using an oligonucleotide of formula III, etc., and an oligonucleotide of formula IV, etc., as primers. Infection or non-infection for these two kinds of viruses are determined by visually detecting the amplified genes and specimens free from both infections are selected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
