PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the subject bromide in high reaction rate useful for contrast media, artificial blood or the like by photochemically carrying out the bromation of the corresponding perfluoroalkyl iodide dissolved in an inert solvent with an excimer-XeCl* lamp. ;CONSTITUTION: A perfluoroalkyl bromide for contrast media, artificial blood or the like represented by RFBr is obtained by photochemical bromation process composed of filling a immersion photochemical reactor which is equipped with an excimer-XeCl* lamp or exicimer-I*2 lamp 3 protected by circulation of deionized water at 15°C in a sleeve pipe 5 and equipped with an external electrode 4 and internal electrode 7, a capillary 2 attached by a sintering nozzle for introducing a nitrogen gas and a condenser 6 with a perfluoroalkyl iodide (e.g. n-perfluorooctyl iodide or the like) represented by the corresponding formula; RFI (RF is a 2-14C perfluoroalkyl) dissolved in an inert solvent, introducing bromine with stirring by a bar magnet 1 and of irradiating the light of 280 to 350 nm thereto.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
