PURPOSE:To provide a sensor probe which can be downsized and a method for measuring concentration of hydrogen in which hydrogen concentration in molten metal can be measured highly accurately over a long time without immersing the sensor element directly into the molten metal while preventing reduction of solid electrolyte composing the sensor element. CONSTITUTION:A porous reference electrode 2 is formed on the inner face of a sensor element 1 having one closed end composed of a perovskite-type proton conductive electrolyte and a porous measuring electrode 3 is formed on the outer face thereof. The reference electrode 2 is isolated from the measuring electrode 3 by means of a sealing member 7 and the measuring electrode 3 is inserted, at least partially, into a cup type ceramic holder for sensor element thus assembling them. The holder is then immersed into a molten metal from the opening side thus confining the space touching the molten metal within the holder.
