PURPOSE:To secure safety of underwater welding worker by installing a stud of a welding gun freely attachably and detachably on a driving shaft connected with an air cylinder and supplying electric power to the stud and controlling actuation via a fluid controller. CONSTITUTION:As to the welding gun 1, a cartridge 43 is installed watertightly on a muzzle part 42 and the compressed air is introduced from an air inlet 37 thereinto and afterward, a cap 5 is brought into contact with base metal to push a starting valve 29. When the welding is commanded to an electric current controller 26 via the fluid controller 27 and the electrification is started from a power source 33 to the stud 3 via an electrification path 35, the air cylinder 22 retreats the driving shaft 39 and an arc is generated between the stud 3 and the cap 5. When the cap 5 and the base metal are molten, the cylinder 22 again presses the stud 3 into a molten pool via the driving shaft 39 to form a deposition part. In this way, the high voltage is not applied to the welding gun and the underwater stud welding is performed.
