PURPOSE: To remove slight amount of colored impurities contained in a waste PET and recover the raw material monomers in a so high purity state as to be recyclable without further purification, in recovery of raw material monomers from a waste PET. ;CONSTITUTION: In this method for recovering high-purity raw material monomers from a waste PET by hydrolyzing the waste PET with water at a high temperature and under a high pressure and recovering the raw material monomers, the hydrolyzed product containing the raw material monomers are characteristically brought into contact with a hydrogenation catalyst so as to be hydrogenated. This method enables recovery of the raw material monomers capable of recycling to polymerization of the polyester without further purification from a waste PET favorable recycling of the waste PET, and resource saving and, therefore, contributes to environmental preservation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
