PURPOSE:To provide the subject material improved in heat-retaining properties, heat insulation properties, compressive recovery, strengths, water resistance and heat resistance by using a crosslinked foam formed from an emulsion of a (meth)acrylic ester polymer as the base material. CONSTITUTION:10-99.9wt.% (meth)acrylic ester, 0.1-10wt.% monomer containing a crosslinking functional group and 0-89.9wt.% monomer free from a crosslinking functional group are emulsion-polymerized at 10-90 deg.C for 5-15hr in the presence of an emulsifier and a polymerization initiator in an aqueous medium to obtain an emulsion of a (meth)acrylic ester polymer of a glass transition temperature of -60 to 25 deg.C and a mean particle diameter of 120-500nm. 100 pts.wt. (in terms of the solid matter) this emulsion is mixed with 0.05-10 pts.wt. fluorosilicate, and the resulting mixture is allowed to gel by heating to 80 deg.C or above for 10hr or longer to obtain a base material comprising a crosslinked foam.
