PURPOSE: To protect the refractory of furnace bottom in a blast furnace by physically changing a local eroding position in the furnace bottom refractory and forming the solidified layer of molten material in the furnace to the local eroded position. ;CONSTITUTION: In the protecting method of the furnace bottom in the blast furnace by controlling molten iron and slag flow in order to protect the furnace bottom refractory in the blast furnace, the level positions of iron tapping holes 11, 12 are alternately shifted at each prescribed term to the upper and or the lower part to alternately change the local eroded position caused by the molten iron and slag flow in the furnace bottom.
