PURPOSE:To allow simultaneous quantitative analysis of specified components in gasoline by using a system in which two (independently temperature controllable) gas chromatographs, having a polarity filling column and nonpolar capillary column, are coupled. CONSTITUTION:A bout 1ml of sample, where known quantities of methyl tertiary butylether(MTBE), methanol, and kerosene are added to a marketing gasoline, is sampled into a sample bottle 9 which is then set in an automatic sample injector 1. When a start button 10 of the injector 1 is depressed, the sample 11 is injected into a vaporization chamber 11 and divided to a polarity filling column 3 and a nonpolar capillary column 6 at a ratio of 6:1 by means of a sample dividing mechanism 2. MTBE, methanol, benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX) are separated in the column 3 whereas kerosene (n-tridecane, n- tetradecane) is separated in the column 6. Upon finish of analysis, a data processor 12 calculates the contents of kerosene, metanol, BTX and MTBE in the sample.
