PURPOSE: To provide a sustained release alginic acid preparation capable of releasing a large amount of a drug-active substance at a moderate releasing rate to increase the amount of the substance absorbed in the body. ;CONSTITUTION: This sustained release preparation is composed of freeze-dried alginic acid gel beads containing a drug-active substance. The sustained release preparation can be produced by dropping a solution of sodium alginate and the drug-active substance into a solution of a bivalent metal salt and freezedrying the obtained gel beads.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
