PURPOSE: To increase a printing density at a comparatively high printing speed by providing dye layer wherein solid homogeneous beads containing an image dye, a binder and a laser beam absorbing substance, are blended, on a support. ;CONSTITUTION: An image dye, a binder and a laser beam absorbing substance are treated using an evaporated limited coalescence method, and beads of approx. 0.1-20 μm are prepared. The beads are dispersed in an aqueous solution of an aqueous solution material such as polyvinyl alcohol, and an application liquid for a dye layer is prepared. The application liquid for the dye layer is applied and dried on a supporting body such as a transparent plastic film, and a synthetic paper, and the dye layer is formed, and the objective single color dye donor element for laser-induced thermal dye transfer is obtained. For the image dye, a single color which is selected from among cyan, magenta and yellow, is used. As a concrete example of the laser beam absorbing substance, carbon black and a cyanin-based infrared absorbing dye or the like can be counted.
