PURPOSE:To efficiently recover Ni, Co and Cu from a deep-sea oxidized mineral by reducing the mineral through the reaction medium reduced by the hydrogen activated by a platinum catalyst and leaching the Ni, Co and Cu as the ammine complex. CONSTITUTION:The molecular hydrogen introduced in a reaction system is activated by the platinum catalyst deposited on a water-repellent carrier (e.g. 'Teflon(R)'). A reaction medium (copper (II) ion, cobalt (III) ion and oxoacid of vanadium (V)) is reduced by the activated hydrogen. The reduced reaction medium is then allowed to act on a deep-sea oxidized mineral grain dispersed in an ammonia-ammonium salt soln., and the grain is reduced. The Cu, Ni and Co in the mineral are leached out and recovered as the ammine complex.
