PURPOSE: To improve the reliability and response time of a data base. CONSTITUTION: Respective nodes 102 and 104 inform the master node 100 whether or not they are reliable. In the case that the node is reliable, after a final commit or back-out command is received and it is propagated to a low-order node and before the commit or back-out command is completed by the node or the optional node of the low-order or before the affirmative response is provided, a transaction is released in the node. In the case that the node is not reliable, after waiting for the affirmative response for indicating that a commit or back-out synchronization point operation is completed in all the unreliable nodes including the node itself, the transaction is released in the node.
