PURPOSE: To improve strength, rigidity, heat resistance, wearing resistance, electrical insulating properties, and chemical resistance by incorporating specific thiol-silane-modified glass fibers into a poly (allylene sulfide). ;CONSTITUTION: An alkoxysilane represented by the formula (wherein (n) is 2-6 and R1, R2, and R3 each is 1-4C alkyl) is dissolved in a solvent comprising at least one of water, methanol, ethanol, propyl alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol. The pH of the solution is adjusted to 4-6 to hydrolyze the alkoxysilane to thereby obtain a thiol-silane solution. 0.01-20wt.% this solution is adhered to 100 pts.wt. glass fibers. The resulting fibers are dried at 20-60°C and then heated at 60-130°C for 0.1-15hr to obtain thiol-silane-modified glass fibers. A poly(allylene sulfide) is mixed with 1-75vol% these fibers with heating.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
